Egcovoid void former for intended hollow spaces

Egcovoid is a lost formwork system used to create voids between horizontal and vertical foundation surfaces and the subgrade. These voids are required to separate the concrete surfaces from the subgrade to allow for constructions where physical separation or vibration protection measures are necessary.

Void Former consists of a specially designed cardboard encased in a protective plastic film. Each unit of Void Former has a pre-installed hose for subsequent injection of water. Void Former acts as a temporary support system, which supports the concrete during the pouring and curing phases. At the appropriate time water is pumped through the integrated hoses in Void Former. Thus the whole area is flooded in a controlled manner which causes the structure of Void Former to collapse and the designed void is then created. The size of the void that is formed provides sufficient separation between concrete and subgrade in accordance with design requirements.

Voids under base slabs and pile head beams:

  • Creates a gap for expanding jointing material
  • Ensure optimum load distribution for cast in-situ piles
  • For underground constructions where excessive loads on concrete slabs can be avoided
  • For sound and vibration decoupling of base slabs and subgrade

Separation layer / lost formwork:

  • Suitable for creating a separation layer between the structure and retaining formwork/ground
  • Suitable for vertical separation from existing foundations
